What is wellness?
As defined by dictionary.com: The quality or state of being healthy in body and mind, especially as the result of deliberate effort. An approach to healthcare that emphasizes preventing illness and prolonging life, as opposed to emphasizing treating disease
What is health?
As defined by the World Health Organization: A state of complete physical, mental, and social well being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity
What are the pillars of wellness?
- Financial Wellness: Being able to successfully manage financial responsibilities in a way that avoids, or minimizes, stress and anxiety. Can include, but not limited to, being able to meet your essential needs, manage your day-to-day spending, keep track of expenses, save, and/or invest.
- Emotional wellness: Being aware of your feelings, able to develop healthy coping practices in a way that will minimize stress and anxiety.
- Occupational wellness: Exposing yourself to career development opportunities that will promote personal satisfaction and enrichment.
- Physical wellness: Caring for your bodies in a way that leads to optimal health and functioning. Includes, but not limited to, adequate physical activity, practicing healthy eating habits, getting adequate sleep, having access to quality health care, and getting enough sleep.
- Social wellness: This is all about our relationships with others. This includes building and maintaining healthy and supportive relationships.
- Spiritual Wellness: Practicing activities that allows you to be in tune with your spiritual self. This includes, but is not limited to activities that uplift religion, morals, values, faith and ethics.
- Intellectual wellness: Engaging in creative and mentally uplifting activities. This includes, but is not limited to, formal education (college), community involvement, and developing personal hobbies.
- Environmental wellness: Being mindful of how your habits impact the environment, and how your environment can in return impact you. This includes living a lifestyle that is respectful to the natural resources of the earth.
Who qualifies for a wellness investment?
A United States citizen, 18 years and older, with access to a PayPal or Venmo account. This person must be able to articulate how an investment of this kind would benefit their lives, and reduce barriers that have been making it challenging for them to accomplish a health and wellness related goal
What does it cost?
Although completing the application process will require a relatively small amount of time and effort, there are no fees
What is the catch?
No catch. This is a philanthropic investment. Think of it like a scholarship award given for the purpose of improving health
If I’m selected, what happens next?
- You will be notified by phone and/or email
- You are encouraged to allow Geelo Wellness to share your name, social media account(s), testimony, and/or likeness to celebrate your commitment to health and wellness. This is NOT a requirement
- Payout
- If awardee chooses cash payout, Geelo Wellness will transfer award amount to the awardee’s Paypal or Venmo account (within 30 days of award notification)
- If awardee chooses sponsorship payout, Geelo Wellness will directly pay the health business of the awardee’s choosing for a health related service (within 30 days of award notification)
What is the difference between a cash payout and a sponsorship payout?
The monetary value of a sponsorship payout is higher. If the sponsorship payout is selected, Geelo Wellness will directly pay the health related business for a service on the behalf of the awardee. If the awardee chooses a cash payout, the lesser award amount will be transferred to the awardee’s Venmo or PayPal account
- Example: Wellness investment amount is hypothetically $500
- Awardee would like to book an appointment with a family and marriage therapist to improve their social and emotional wellness
- Therapist charges $600 for four (4) sessions
- If the awardee selects a sponsorship payout, Geelo Wellness will pay the therapist directly, on the behalf of the awardee. Payment would total $500. Awardee would be responsible for any remaining costs.
- If the awardee selects a cash payout, awardee will receive $400 transferred to their Venmo or PayPal account
